Frequently Asked Questions About the SSV Project

1.       How are sites assigned?

Site inspection assignments within your assigned area are posted daily via a web-based application. Inspectors may claim assignments on a first-come first-served basis. Therefore, it is in the interest of the inspector to check the inspection assignments often.

2.        What am I required to document on a site visit?

Inspectors are required to answer basic questions about the site they visited through a web-based application available on their smartphone. The application will require the inspector to fill out the checklist and photograph the site.

The inspector is not asked to do anything else aside from performing their duties assigned to them. On a basic site visit, the inspector is not to make contact with any of the site’s personnel. On an advance site visit, the inspector will be tasked with making approved contact with personnel at the location. The extent of the contact will be detailed in the assignment.

3.       How long do the Inspections take?

A standard site inspection can be successfully completed within minutes. The inspector is only required to answer a few questions, take a picture, and submit the data. Advanced site inspections take slightly more time, but they can be successfully completed within 30 to 40 minutes.

4.       How will I know once I have successfully completed a site visit?

The inspector will receive a notice once the required information is submitted through their phone. Any problems with the site visit will be transmitted to the inspector so that the problem can be remedied.

 5.      How many sites am I allowed to visit?

Inspectors can visit an unlimited amount of sites during the course of the project.

 6.        How far can I expect to travel?

Inspectors are expected to take site inspection assignments which are within fifty (50) miles of their address. The sites within the inspector’s range will automatically show up once they log into the assignment portal.

7.       Is mileage and reimbursement paid?

No. Transportation costs incurred by inspectors are not eligible for reimbursement. The only form of compensation is the flat fee paid by CES for each successfully completed site visit. The only exception is sites which CES considers remote distant locations where an inspector may not be available locally.

The Rates Paid by CES:

$25 for each completed basic site visit

$40 for each completed advance site visit

8.       What equipment am I required to supply?

Inspectors are required to supply their own smartphones (Currently iPhones and Android-based phones) capable of photographing sites and geo-tagging their photographs. Inspectors will not be given any equipment by CES, its team members under the contract, or the Federal government.

9.       Are there special requirements for inspectors?

CES requires that inspectors have a college degree or they are in the process of receiving a college degree. Inspectors will also have to successfully pass a background check prior to performing site visits. Additionally, all inspectors are required to complete an online training course prior to being assigned sites to inspect.

10.       How will I get paid?

CES will send inspectors a check by mail. The amount will be based on the number of successfully completed site inspections by the inspector during the relevant time period.

11.       Am I an employee of CES or the Federal government?

No, you are not an employee of CES or the Federal government. You are classified as a 1099 independent contractor. No taxes will be removed from your check, and you will be required to report all income you received under this project to the IRS when you file taxes.

12.       What is an Advance Site visit?

An advance site visit will be marked in the assignment database. Most sites requiring an advance site visit will be independent diagnostic lab facilities. The site visit will require the inspector to make contact with the personnel at the site. The inspector may have to ask questions of personnel and obtain information relevant to the visit to successfully complete the inspection.

13.       What if my question was not answered here?

Inspectors can contact CES’ 24/7 help desk with any questions, technical issues, or comments. The help desk is accessible through this email address: Jobs@cesnb.com
